I love my friends. I love my family. I love my husband, my job, my dogs, and all the activities I’m a part of.
But gosh darn it, one I the things I love most in this world is some good old fashioned “me time.”
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind with the Fourth of July holiday, family in town, work, and even adding a new member to our family–I’m officially an Aunt!
It’s been great fun, but this morning I woke up and after a solid 8 plus hours of sleep I still felt exhausted.
The reason: I realized I have set aside zero time for myself to be alone to decompress and relax.
So today, I’m hibernating.
I’m going to stay inside, lay in bed with my pups, do some writing, watch some nonsense TV, and perhaps do a little house work…if I get to it.
I used to think it was selfish of me to hide away from the world. But I’ve come to realize it’s simply a necessity to keep myself happy and recharged so I can take on the world again on Monday.
It’s ok to be selfish and give yourself what you need. And today I am doing just that.
What do you do to rest and recharge? Let me know in the comments 🙂
